Walk into another facet of Dubai

Yesterday I wondered around the old part of the town. It was at a time when the town was deserted as the scorching heat of the afternoon was not the time when the usual hustle bustle happens. The closed doors of otherwise interesting shops, narrow alleys had a different charm from the usual.

Amazing play of light and colours;

Couldn't help seeing this from a black and white point of view;

Colours and life yet again;

In a couple of hours this would be a busy spot;

Well, I wasn't entirely alone;

Something to smile about...

On a walk along the Dubai Festival City mall, I came across this beautiful exhibition of dolls. I am way past the age and the wrong gender to get excited by dolls but these were beautiful creations of art with lifelike expressions and moods captured with tremendous skill and artistry beyond expectations. The demonstrations by some of the creators of these crafts added to the wonder of it all.

These need to be seen at their full view by clicking on the picture. The lighting was not ideal and I had to struggle to get the mood without camera shake. Though some of them still prevailed in the final product, I hope you will enjoy the expressions of these beautiful statues.

I also had to exercise extreme caution when I saw the price tags of these, not to get too close to them!

Mallified

I enjoyed a leisurely stroll in the Dubai Festival City mall in the evening. The hustle and bustle of shoppers (despite the credit crunch) was invigorating. The rush to enjoy bargains of the summer shopping season, peppered with a few fun activities made it complete.
